The Long Game — Header

Hosted by Miles Bassett

FRONTIER & Main

podcast

Conversations with Kansas owners staying ahead of a market that keeps shifting

under them. Hosted by Miles Bassett, who has spent nearly ten years helping small businesses put

technology to work before they have to.

About the show

Business survival isn't luck. It's a system.

The best business stories right now sit at the corner of Frontier and Main.

Frontier technology is landing on Main Street. AI answering the phone at midnight. Software running the schedule. Owners rebuilding how the work gets done, usually with a truck, a payroll, and a name on the door. Every episode, one owner goes on the record: a long conversation, no script, no theory. Host Miles Bassett digs into the decisions nobody sees from the outside. It's not meant to be inspiring. It's meant to be useful, the kind of episode where you walk away with one real thing you can go try tomorrow.

Frontier & Main — Five Questions. One Hour.
What to Expect

Five questions. One hour.

No prep list. No questions to memorize. You talk about your work and we handle the rest. The recorded conversation runs 30 to 45 minutes. Plan on an hour in the building. Good conversations run long here, and we never cut one short to hit a number.

01
The Bet

Why you started and what you put on the line.

02
The Near Miss

The stretch where the whole thing almost came apart. Every owner has one.

03
The Shifting Ground

What is changing under you right now. Customers, labor, hiring, AI.

04
The Next Bet

Where the business goes next. Systems, growth, succession, legacy.

05
The Playbook

One move another owner should steal this week.

What to

Expect.

Not a formula. Just how a real conversation about a real business tends to go.

Why they started, the moment it almost fell apart, what's changed since, what they're building to last, and one thing another owner could use this week. Viewers get a real look at how businesses actually hold up, guests get a conversation with a clear shape, and every episode ends with something specific enough to act on.

The host

Miles Bassett

Nearly ten years building the systems that keep small businesses ahead of the curve.

Before founding his companies, Miles spent years as a software engineer inside major tech companies and government institutions, learning how the infrastructure actually works. Today he builds websites, automation, and AI systems for small businesses across Kansas. He's a frequent speaker on AI and small business, regularly brought in by economic development groups to explain what's coming and what to do about it. Off the clock, he runs local networking events, works the family farm outside Lawrence, and is raising three kids under three with his wife.

"I like connecting people and helping them build something that lasts."

Frontier & Main — FAQ
Questions guests ask

Before you apply

No, our show is not pay to play so no guest has to pay anything. We also do not pay for guests to appear on the show.

Nothing specific, there’s no question list, no talking points, no slides. Just be prepared to show up and talk about your business on camera. Also ensure you set aside enough time and have good internet connectivity.

Every owner underrates the story. The near miss does not have to be a headline. A slow season, a partner who walked, a contract lost. Bring what you have.

Prepare for an hour. The recorded conversation usually runs 30 to 45 minutes.
